Oh. My. God. This was easily the most difficult episode to watch. Looking back over all the seasons, I think this ranks up there with Hershel’s death, only it’s worse because in the case of Hershel we knew for sure he was gone. With Glenn, I (along with most of the Internet) am still hoping that there is some way that Nicholas landed on Glenn after his incredibly selfish suicide and the mass of zombies were ripping out Nicholas’ guts and not the insides of Glenn. Of course, even if Glenn was under him, once they completely ripped him apart, Glenn would still be there in a mess of zombies unlike any we’ve ever seen before. Logically, there is little way he could make it out.
That said, if you watch Talking Dead, you know that Glenn’s name was not on the In Memoriam…yet. Of course, it could be because we don’t definitely know whether or not Glenn died. The executive producers also offered some insight on Talking Dead, via a statement, to say that we would see Glenn again, to complete his story. This might mean we see him as a zombie and it might mean he finds a way out of this. If he doesn’t I can only imagine how it will affect Maggie, who has no one left other than Glenn now that Beth is gone.
We didn’t see Alexandria at all this episode. We only saw the group trying to get home. Rick split off from the group and though Glenn wanted to go with him, Rick made him stay because he needed Michonne and Glenn to get the others home. In an effort to trim the Alexandria fat, on the way home, Sturgess, Annie, and David ended up not making it home. The guy I am calling “guy who disagreed with Rick” also got it. In fact, he was the first, which is not surprising since he seemed like dead weight.
As they were headed home it was Michonne, Heath, and Scott attempting to reach Alexandria with all of the others dead.
Rick made it to the RV and though he told Daryl to stay with Sasha, Abraham, and the herd, Daryl drove off trying to offer his help to someone. Unfortunately, he didn’t end up helping anyone, and by the end of the episode he was right back where he started.
Rick had to fight his way through a few walkers, and ended up getting some zombie blood in a nasty hand-cut, but he was able to drive off in the RV to the rendezvous point where he was supposed to meet the rest of the group so they could get back to the safe zone. There was a question of whether or not it was a bite, but I think it was a cut as opposed to a bite.
As he was waiting on the RV, the Wolves that Morgan let go last week tried to kill Rick. He got rid of the two in the RV easy and then noticed three more creeping outside and shot along the side of the RV to kill them, too. Unfortunately, once all was said and done, the RV wouldn’t start and as the walkers started descending on the RV Rick looked hopeless for the first time in a truly desperate way.
Next week the previews show Morgan killing some of the Alexandria bodies and walkers coming up on him.
Though “Thank You” was intense, it was definitely a good episode. Well, except for the possibility of Glenn’s death. That was a whole bunch of suckage.
What did you think of the episode? Is Glenn really dead or will he make it out alive?
